MUSIGA Gt. Accra presented with peace award

It was a proud moment for members of the Musicians Union of Ghana Greater Accra (M.G.A) last Thursday, September 7, when they received the trophy they won for a peace song at the maiden edition of the Ghana Peace Awards held late last year.

The 12-minute M.G.A. song titled ‘Nation Peace Song’, was recorded in the run-up to the 2016 general elections and it sought to remind all Ghanaians that there was no need for conflict at that important time.

The social intervention project involved 22 musicians and was initiated and coordinated by Bright Appiah Quaye, also known as Joe Wizzy, the MUSIGA Greater Accra Regional Organiser.

Musicians that contributed to the project produced by Dr. Raybeatz were Ras Appiah Levy, Adam, Gifty Osei, Kento, Autentiq, Perppy, Assanqoma, De Servant, Young Money, Joe Wizzy and Anumaa.

Others were Queen Shegah, Stammy Gee, Lady Sarah, SK Original, Sandy Bee, Goldmann, Piesie Rhythms, Officer Kwasi Fori, Elivava, Annette-D and Aluta.

Video on the project was shot by Director Snow with support from MUSIGA president, Bice Osei Kufour and the Pace Setters Acting Club headed by Zimran Clottey, better known as Great Aluta.

The Ghana Peace Awards, organised by Stability Foundation International, is a scheme to recognise, honour and celebrate individuals and institutions who have contributed in various ways to the promotion of peace in this country.

“We are happy our effort to help foster peace in this country was recognised. It should be everybody’s desire to see that peace reigns in our land at all times.
Collectively as M.G.A., we will always stand up for peace,” Joe Wizzy told Showbiz.
