Some aggrieved staff of the National Theatre are calling for the immediate dismissal of the Executive Director, Mrs Amy Appiah Frimpong, over claims of mismanagement.

In a report by Citi News, it mentioned that the demonstrating staff were also aggrieved over the Executive Director’s refusal to promote deserving workers in the last 12 years.

Clad in red accoutrements as a reflection of their moods earlier today, the demonstrators made unsubstantiated allegations and raised concerns over how the Executive Director had grossly embezzled funds and yet failed to maintain the facility.

They held that even though National Theatre raked in significant income, the building hadn’t seen any significant facelift in the past 30 years due to bad management.

Citi News also reported that some event organisers seen at the facility who were busily setting the stage for a programme mentioned issues with non-functioning air conditioners and similarly observed that some seats had been replaced with mismatched “foreign” chairs."

The aggrieved workers are expected to present a petition to management by the close of the day.

Last month, renowned preacher and General Overseer of International Central Gospel Church(ICGC), Dr Mensa Otabil expressed his frustrations with the state of National Theatre describing it as “severe malnourished” due to poor maintenance culture.

Also, a number of industry players, particularly playwrights who use it as venue for their shows have been lamenting about the poor facilities and unavailability of key equipment to aid their production. (National Theatre, Methodist Church sign MOU)
