Olivetheboy makes “history” as most streamed Ghanaian artiste in first half of 2023

“Hard work pays”. This well-known saying perhaps sums up the story of fast rising Afrobeats artiste, Olivetheboy, who is basking in the glory of being the most streamed Ghanaian artiste at the moment.

The singer has been named number one in the official Chartmetrics list of the Top five most streamed Ghanaian artistes in the first half of the year 2023.

Olivetheboy’s maiden song, Goodsin beat the likes of King Promise’s “Terminator” and “Into the future” by Stonebwoy to take the first spot.

The report compiled by renowned music data analytics giants, Chartmetrics and Soundcharts, observed streaming metrics from January to June 2023 for Ghanaian musicians and their songs across five different streaming platforms: Spotify, Audiomack, Tiktok, Boomplay and YouTube.

Unfortunately, reigning VGMA Artiste of the Year, Black Sheirf, Gyakie and Kidi didn’t make the top five list.

The latest feat is a big deal for the new music sensation who made a grand entry into the music scene in May this year with Goodsin.

Having realised the power of social media and music streaming platforms, the 20 year old and Tiktok sensation, with support from his team went all out to make a positive impact and that is certainly paying off.

Goodsin by Olivetheboy, according to Chartmetrics, is the longest trend for a Ghanaian song on Tiktok (2023) having being number one for eight weeks, most streamed Ghanaian song on several major music charts in West Africa.

Motivation

In a conversation with Graphic Showbiz, Olivetheboy said the latest feat will be a great inspiration to drive him to the greatest heights of his music career.

He noted that many of his compatriots struggle to get attention but with hard work, perseverance and the right professional guidance and support, he is making waves in both Ghana and Nigeria.

“My song is also the fastest Ghanaian song with 10 million digital streams after blowing up on Tiktok following a challenge started by entertainer and influencer, Endurance Grand.

“I’m equally grateful that the hard work over the years is paying off, particularly when my song is the most popular in Nigeria at the moment,” he stated.
