‘One Ghana’ concert launched

Mr Isaac Martey, Production Manager at OM, presenting a special ‘One Ghana’ concert invitation to the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare.A concert dubbed One Ghana, which aims at unifying Ghanaians through music, has been launched in Accra.

It is being organised by Fiesta, a digital television channel which seeks to promote Ghanaian music.

They hope to ride on the wings of the concert slated for December 8, to bring together people from all 10 regions to celebrate the peace Ghana has enjoyed during and after the Supreme Court verdict.

Speaking at the launch, CEO of Ohene Media (OM), operators of Fiesta, Abraham Ohene Djan pointed out that One Ghana is a free open-air event which would be held annually.

According to him, this year’s bash would celebrate peace and encourage political harmony.

"We have realised that music and entertainment bring us together irrespective of our political affiliations or ethnic differences.

“That’s why we aim to strengthen peace and unity in the country through music. It's a free concert but our target is the youth since they are the people often used to foment   trouble."

The Ohene Media boss said an invitation to the concert has already been sent to the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu Adjare.

Invitations would also be sent to leaders of the various political parties, the Musicians Union of Ghana, the National Peace Council, the Office of the Chief Imam and other bodies,” he added.

Ohene Media’s   Production Manager, Isaac Martey, also said the Fiesta channel which was established about five years ago to help promote Ghanaian music, was glad to contribute to peace and development in this country through the One Ghana Concert initiative.

He stated that in subsequent years, the One Ghana concert would be held in other regions.
