PICTURES: 14th edition of Rhythms On Da Runway launched
This year’s Rhythms On Da Runway has been launched in Accra with a call for support for the creative industry.
Speaking at the launch which took place at the Silver Star Towers at Airport in Accra on Saturday, September 21, the Producer/Creative Director for Rhythms On Da Runway, Yvonne Ocloo disclosed that even though the creative industry shows huge potential, it lacked the needed support.

She revealed that Rhythms on Da Runway has also struggled with the challenges, putting its existence at risk. To mitigate financial burdens, management has made the difficult decision to cancel the physical launch.
“This might be the last in-person launch because we will be doing it online to leverage on the financial burdens.
“However, we will be happy to have support to go on with it to elevate African arts and culture through fashion,” she said.
This year’s event themed “The Kente Edition” is the 14th edition and will take place at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) on Saturday, November 30.
The Silver Star Towers played host to a vibrant launch ceremony, drawing an A-list crowd of football, film, music, media, and political personalities.
In attendance were football legends Stephen Appiah and Derrick Boateng, Sammy Gyamfi of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Media personalities Abeiku Santana, Miss Nancy, Reggie Rockstone, James Gardner and Harold Amenyah.

The others are veteran Highlife artiste, Rex Omar, Asabea Cropper, Phred Nuamah, and former Most Beautiful winner, Akua Amoakowaa, rapper Kweku T, Trigmatic among a host of other media personalities and creatives in the fashion industry.
In an earlier presentation, media personality and CEO of Nineteen57 Clothing, Kofi Okyere Darko popularly known as KOD said Ghana's creative industry faces a pivotal challenge with the provision of sufficient platforms for talented individuals to shine.
He stressed that with targeted support, these artists can thrive on the global stage and commended that initiatives such as Rhytms on Da Runway have successfully propelled emerging talents to stardom.
In a welcome address, Edem Mensah –Tsotorme, Media Relation for Nineteen57 Clothing, said fashion plays a fundamental role in the creative economy and has contributed hugely to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of countries and opened up job creation avenues for the youth.

“We are optimistic that with your continued support, we would be able to forge key partnerships with relevant stakeholders to build a robust fashion ecosystem thereby expanding opportunities and promoting more creative talents and crafts,” he stated.
The event featured electrifying performances by Byno Ayoni, Maya Blu and Gospel musician, Cwesi Oteng among others.
