Serwaa wins Activ8 Season 1 Challenge

23-year-old actress, model, singer and content creator, Miss Agnes Serwaa Appiah, emerged the ultimate winner of the maiden Activ8 challenge organised by Kanekalon – a Japanese beauty organisation and producers of hair fibre extensions, wigs and braids for women.

The four week-long competition held virtually, began as the month of April kicked in with 40 smart ladies, ended with five finalists and one overall winner, with the climaxing event hosted at the head office of Kanekalon in Accra via the company’s Instagram live stream.

Serwaa Appiah who took home the topmost cash prize of GH¢5,000, took to her social media page to celebrate her victory by thanking all who voted and supported her. The former Presbyterian Secondary Technical School, Aburi (SHS) and Government Secretarial School (HND in Secretaryship and Management Studies) graduate could not hide her surprise, joy and awe as she was announced the winner.

Miss Angela who was popularly addressed as French Bae in the challenge, emerged as the 1st runner up in the competition with a cash prize of GH¢2,000 and a package comprising of hair products from the brand. The 2nd runner up – Miss Nervissah also got her prize of GH¢1,000 and gifts from Kaneka.

Described by many as one of a kind, the competition organized by the Kaneka social media team has gained a lot of attention on social media as lots of people rallied support for their favourites, evidenced in the comments posts and through the online voting system created by the team.

Kanekalon came up with the initiative to empower people and more especially young ladies to use their time on social media more productively and to be lucrative with their creativity on these platforms. With a new task given every week, these ladies were challenged to be at their best in order to stay in the competition.

The General Manager of the Kanekalon Africa, Mr. Hiro Seko who was present at the prize presentation event on Sunday, was elated with the turnout of events and congratulated the ladies while presenting their awards to them.

He expressed the desire to see even greater content and works from them. He encouraged them to join the newly created official team of social media content creators for the brand. He also commended the Kanekalon team for the very creative approach to organizing and structuring the competition, and above all for choosing to make the entire challenge a virtual one in keeping with the Covid-19 protocols.
