Speak about society problems in songs —Minister Bennie to gospel acts
WHEN US-based Gospel artiste, Minister Bennie was promoting her Redeemed song in 2021, the heat on the anti-LGBT Bill in Ghana was strong and she seized the opportunity to add her voice.
She used Redeemed to draw attention of listeners to how God had the power to save people from the claws of homosexuality.

According to Minister Bennie, the song had huge impact and she is certain similar takes by her colleagues to speak about such ills in society will yield positive results.
In a conversation with Graphic Showbiz, Minister Bennie, who is coming out with her debut album later in the year expressed her worry about some Gospel artistes not ‘tackling’ relevant discussions about the society.
She mentioned that Gospel singers should be bold to add their voices to topical issues since they have huge influence.
“At the time the anti LGBT bill was being discussed, I quite remember I was promoting Redeemed. I thought that if I’m telling people about how God can transform them from their sinful ways, why not be specific that homosexuality was an abomination and God was ready to help anyone who wants to turn over a new leaf.
“That is how we can make the messages we promote in our songs practical for the listener. We should be bold to mention some of the ills plunging our society in chaos”, she said.

For Minister Bennie, her music journey started as a hobby where she loved to join the choir and took delight in sharing the stage with members to sing.
However, the hobby turned into a profession with an assignment to confidently influence her generation.
Even though her mission has not been without challenges particularly when she is based outside Ghana, she expressed her appreciation to people such as music producer, Minister Igwe, CEO Swell Sound for holding her down.
