TGMA25: Stonebwoy wins Artiste of the Year again

And once again, Stonebwoy proved his mettle as one of Ghana’s hardworking artistes when he won Artiste of the Year at this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards(TGMA).

This is the second time the Into the Future artiste has won the Artiste of the Year, the first one was in 2015.

Stonebwoy beat five other contenders including his biggest 'rival' on the night, King Promise, who had been projected as a likely winner, gospel singer, Nacee, rapper Sarkodie, Kuami Eugene and Black Sherif to be the ultimate winner.

For coming tops this year, Stonebwoy joins the league of Sarkodie and VIP who have won the ultimate TGMA prize two times.

VIP had the bragging rights of the TGMA topmost award in 2004 and 2011 while Sarkodie won it in 2010 and 2012. 

This year's event which came off last night, June 1,2024 at the Grand Arena of Accra International Conference Centre (AICC) marks the scheme's silver jubilee.

Apart from the Artiste of the Year award, Stonebwoy, who had the highest nominations(15) this year, went home with six more awards. 

He also clinched the Best International Collaboration with Manodzi featuring Angelique Kidjoe,  Songwriter of the Year, Record of the Year, Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year and Allbum/EP of the Year. 

Other winners on the night include King Promise who went home with three awards namely Best AfroPop Song, Most Popular Song and Best Afrobeat/AfroPop Artiste, King Paluta; Best New Artiste and Best Hilplife Song and Olivetheboy; Best Afrobeats Song.

The rest are Kofi Karkari; Best Male Vocal Performance, Queendalyn Yurglee; Best Female Vocal Performance,  Kuami Eugene; Best Highlife Artiste and Best Music Video.

Sarkodie received Best HipHop Song award, Nacee; Best Gospel Song, Amerado; Best Highlife Song and Black Sherif; Hiplife/HipHop Artiste of the Year, among others.

The night was also lit with performances by a number of musicians including Efya, King Paluta, Kuami Eugene,  Amerado, Amakye Dede who was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award. 

Born Livingstone Etse Satekla, Stonebwoy has established himself as one of Ghana's most successful artistes since he hit the limelight over 10 years ago.

There is nothing more delightful than Stonebwoy’s energetic live performances. He also has chart-topping songs such as Ololo, Run Go, Mane Me, etc. in his repertoire.

The multiple-award-winning Stonebwoy has also collaborated with international artistes such as Sean Paul, angelique Kidjo and Morgan Heritage and has been named one of the most influential people in Ghana.
