Overcome with emotion, Torgbe covered his face with his two hands and then held his head as if something terrible had happened to him.

The young man had just been declared winner of the 2014 MTN Hit-Maker music talent contest, after beating four other contestants at the National Theatre last Friday, November 28, to the Ghc100,000 recording deal on offer.

Those who lost out to Torgbe at the well-attended  final event were Snow B, Emperor, Mac-M and Naba.

With groups of vociferous supporters  for each contestant  spread out in the hall,  the scene was quickly set for a keen competition which had Bola Ray and Peace Hyde in charge.

Mac-M and Naba went out after the first round of performances. Emperor fell by the wayside after another of performances and battle for supremacy became a straight affair between Snow B and Torgbe.

It appeared to be an evenly-matched issue along the way as Snow B did a moving highlife piece backed by the Shabo Crew and Torgbe displayed how versatile he could also be with a hip hop piece.

It was left entirely to judges Bessa Simons, Ofie Kodjoe and Hammer of the Last Two to decide who would be the 2014 winner after Naterial (2012) and Koo Ntakara (2013).

The decision went in favour of the young man  born and bred in Liatsi Hohoe in the Volta Region, thereby sparking off wild jubilation among his supporters.

Guest performers at the show were Trozo, R Tay, Fameye, Cano Z and Koo Ntakara. Others were Ahenfie,  Ephraim, Lilwin and Kofi Kinaata as well as Kaaki, VVIP and Samini.
