The event, which is being held under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, (MTCCA), is expected to be a showcase of the best in Ghanaian culture.

NAFAC 2014 is being celebrated on the theme, “The Creative industry and Tourism:

 A Platform for National Development”.

The Head of Public Relations at MTCCA, Mr Prince Boakye-Boateng told Graphic Showbiz that, “The theme for this year’s event finds expression in government’s vision to ensure the strong emergence of a vibrant creative economy to improve and advance the tourism industry as well as significantly impact positively on the national economy”.

The highpoint of the festival, he said, will be the grand durbar of chiefs and people from all over the country in Sunyani on Saturday, December 6.

The “menu” of activities also includes Regional Day celebrations during which the various regions would be given the platform to exhibit the very best of their culture to patrons.

There would also be traditional drumming and dancing, art and craft exhibitions and other activities by representatives of the various regions.

“There will also be traditional beauty pageants, Women and Children’s Day programmes, choral festivals, Ghanaian movie nights, contemporary music and dance nights, drama and theatre nights, youth day activities and a multiplicity of other cultural programmes,” the PR director said.

Mr Boakye-Boateng encouraged potential patrons of NAFAC 2014 to “Find time to visit the numerous, refreshing and distinctive tourist attractions in the Brong Ahafo Region”.

These include the Kintampo Falls, the River Tano Pool, caves, sanctuaries and groves.
