GHANA’S Garden City, Kumas, became the heartbeat of Ghana’s entertainment scene on Saturday, September 27, when Africa’s rap king, Sarkodie, staged an unforgettable edition of his iconic Rapperholic Concert.
Braving heavy rains, thousands of fans filled the Baba Yara Stadium in what many described as one of the most patronised events in the city’s history.
By 4 p.m., queues had already formed, and by nightfall, the stadium precincts buzzed with food vendors, excited chatter and eager anticipation.
Despite the downpour and tense moments when security resorted to crowd-control measures, nothing could deter fans from experiencing Sarkodie’s long-awaited homecoming.
The show, powered by Momo Fest 2025, stretched well into the early hours of the morning, with energy levels peaking at every turn.
The night’s lineup was nothing short of star-studded. Medikal, Kofi Kinaata, Donzy, Kweku Smoke and other hitmakers kept the crowd charged before the Dancehall King himself, Shatta Wale, made his grand appearance.
Still, the evening belonged to Sarkodie. His entrance, marked by fireworks and deafening cheers, set the tone for a journey through his illustrious career.
The rap icon treated patrons to classics, each delivered with the lyrical sharpness and stagecraft that have cemented his reputation as one of Africa’s finest performers.
A deeply emotional highlight came when Sarkodie shared the stage with his mentor, Obrafour, creating a powerful moment of reflection and respect. Longtime collaborator Efya also joined him for stirring renditions of favourites including I’m in Love with You and Saara, leaving the audience in awe.
The ultimate moment arrived when Shatta Wale joined Sarkodie on stage. Their chemistry and unity electrified the atmosphere, turning the stadium into a frenzy and creating a moment of camaraderie between two of Ghana’s biggest stars.
By the time the curtains fell around 4 a.m., the Baba Yara Stadium had witnessed more than a concert. For many, it was a cultural celebration, an affirmation of artistry, Sarkodie’s legacy and the enduring power of Ghanaian music.
Sarkodie’s Rapperholic in Kumasi will not only be remembered for its scale and spectacle but also as a night that etched itself into the annals of Ghana’s entertainment history.
