'Yes my marriage has crashed'
Speaking on behalf of the actress fondly called Jenifa, her publicist and sister, Ayo Ola-Mohammed issued a release last night, confirming the separation, and requesting prayers and support.

The statement reads: ‘On behalf of our client, star actress, Funke Akindele, we want to formally inform you that after due consultation and consideration, she’s now separated from Mr. Kehinde Oloyede as his wife.
She hereby urges her fans and all concerned to pray and wish her the best as she moves on in her career.
‘Kindly note that this is the first and only official statement from Funke Akindele on the matter and will be glad if her wish is respected.’
With this release comes an end to days of speculation on the status of the much celebrated and talked about marriage between the star actress and politician Kehinde Almaroof Oloyede.
Earlier last week, there had been reports of Kehinde posting on his Facebook page a message announcing the marriage had come to an end allegedly to ‘irreconcilable difference’.
Almoroof allegedly wrote: ‘It’s with heavy heart that am announcing the separation of me and ma wife Mrs Olufunke Akindele, we’ve both agreed to go our separate ways coz of irreconcilable differences. We still best of friends and we 4ever remain gud friends. Am doing just fine, getting along without u, don’t need u anymore in ma lif. U d greatest mistake av made in recent time’.

Funke later allegedly denied the reports and insisted that her marriage was intact, even threatening to sue in the case of further reports, an action believed to have been a calculated move to distract the media and of course the fans from probing further.
Suddenly, it all seems the actress has come to a realization that as much as she owes herself to own up to the realities of life, she also owes her much beloved fans the truth instead of painting a false picture of what is not.
Funke spoke about the breakup of her mariage with blogger/journalist, Stella Korkus and here are excerpts from the interview:
Funke how do you feel now that your marriage has ended after just a year? People are laughing at you.

Yes my marriage has crashed. Let the people who are laughing at me continue laughing, my job afterall is to make people laugh.
Let those who are without sins or mistake cast the first stone. Let them continue judging me. God is the overall judge; he is the one I look up to.
Why the silence all this while why? Why Facebook?
It’s my private life, I know I am a public figure but I am entitled to some privacy at least. What has happened has happened, no one is beyond mistakes.

I will take corrections from this and apply where necessary from now on. I bear Mr Kehinde Oloyede no ill feelings.
Although one can explain exactly what went wrong, many had speculated right from the beginning that the marriage seemed like it was destined to fail because of all the controversies that surrounded it.
From Kehinde’s pre-Funke women (he had been married at least once and there’s a second woman in the picture), to alleged post-Funke children and of course alleged strings of affairs, many opine this was surely going to hit the rocks sooner or later.

The couple did not have a child together even though there had been strong rumours of a Funke Akindele pregnancy.
It may not all be over for good though – as one insider told NET ‘you can’t rule out reconciliation 100 percent. Anything can happen.’
