Ayekoo! Those sacrificing in the times

A popular anecdote is told of four people named everybody, somebody, anybody and nobody. There was an important job to be done and everybody was sure that somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but nobody did it.

Somebody got angry about that because it was everybody’s job. Everybody thought anybody could do it, but nobody realised that everybody wouldn’t do it.

It ended up that everybody blamed somebody when nobody did what anybody could have.

The morale of the story is that no one takes responsibility, nothing gets accomplished.

Some Ghanaians have rejected the government’s intention to site COVID-19 isolation centres in their communities calling on the government to site them to other elsewhere.

Which communities deserve to host a COVID-19 isolation centres? This attitude of Ghanaians contradicts the President’s call for all to support the fight.

For social wellbeing and cohesion, some sacrifice, but those that sacrifice are not specially bred people. Who says the frontline health workers are super human beings? Can we imagine the situation we would all be confronted with if health workers decided not to approach a COVID-19 patient?

The filth we generate everyday and carted away by Zoomlion ends up behind someone’s bedroom as a dumping ground.

That is other peoples’ ways of sacrificing for others. This disease reinforces the old proverb that an entire broom is hard to break, but a single one breaks easily.

It appears dissent in communities are as a result of ignorance.

The government needs to engage these community so they see reason in helping with the fight.
