Bad road conditions at Ayeduase

There are about 500 hostels that seek to provide the students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) with accommodation.

Most of these hostels, which are registered under the Directorate of Students Affairs (DoSA), are found within Ayeduase – Kotei, a dormitory town that serves inhabitants, as well as the students.

It is a popular landmark as far as KNUST is concerned.

Yet, despite the significant role it plays in the development of the nation’s future leaders, the roads leading to and from the town are in a deplorable state.

The state of these roads becomes even worse during rainy seasons like the current time as they become nearly untraversable.

The government’s lack of commitment to fixing these roads is responsible for the hustle students, motorists and other road users face daily.

Hostel Managers charge large sums of money, some as much as GH¢16,000 for a room, so they should collaborate with the university’s management and appeal to the government to come to the aid of the students.

Both parties can equally make compromises to fix the roads making them safer for the students and all other road users.
