At a glance, one can appreciate the problems we tend to encounter with this improvised device: from the mother of the baby tripping over the tubing to the bottle of water pouring out accidentally.

In the case of our triplets, the set up became so intertwined that it looked like a ball of confusion!

Whoever thought about the improvised bubble CPAP (KCPAP) is a true genius. It has been a life-saving intervention for many young children with breathing difficulties, commonly from pneumonia (infection of the lungs).

Like many such stop-gap tools intended to be temporary measures, this has sadly become an unwanted “standard” intervention.
