Come to our aid, MP
We, the residents of Brodo Junction in Top Town, Ngleshie Amanfro, are writing this letter in desperation.
For six years, our community has suffered from severe flooding that has made our lives miserable.
We hope that this letter will draw attention to our plight and help us get the relief we need.
The flooding started when a private developer diverted access to our street and built his house on the access way.
This blocked the path for rainwater to flow to the main drains.
Now, some residents, including a nearby church, have encroached on the remaining access path, making the problem even worse.
Every rainy season, which lasts four to five months, water floods our homes and streets, turning our area into a dangerous trap.
This flooding affects us badly. Children have to wade through deep, dirty water to go to school, risking falls and sickness.
The elderly cannot move safely and often stay stuck at home.
We lose property, face health risks and spend money on constantly pumping out the floodwaters and on cleanups every time it rains.

Stagnant flood waters
Our daily life is full of anxiety and hardship because of this blockage.
We have tried many times to get help from the Ga South Municipal Assembly, but they show no interest and refuse to act.
We contacted the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in Ga South, and in September 2025, they visited our area and confirmed that the blockage is the cause.
We later sent them a petition to officially plead for help, but they have also ignored us completely.
No action has been taken.
Since October 2025, we have prepared a petition for our Member of Parliament, Felix Akwetey Okle.
We have tried hard to meet him, but we have not succeeded.
We hope that through your newspaper, our problem will reach the MP and other leaders.
We need a permanent fix: clear the blockages, provide sand to repair our streets, and build a small drain to direct water to the main street.
As taxpaying, hard-working Ghanaians, we can’t be treated like second-class citizens. Our families cannot suffer like this anymore.
