Spokesman, Operation Lafiya Dole, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, told Sunday Sun the suicide bombers infiltrated the IDPs camp before security personnel around could stop them.
“Two suicide bombers trying to enter the Dikwa IDPs camp detonated explosives on their bodies.
Seven people including the bombers were killed and six injured,” he said.
Nwachukwu said the military views the latest trend by Boko Haram as part of the terrorists’ tactics by targeting IDPs camps and other vulnerable persons. He said the insurgents have also resorted to kidnapping or hostage taking for ransom, urging residents to be security conscious.
“The latest trend by Boko Haram is part of the new tactics to attack soft targets. The terrorists are also taking hostages for ransom and using the captives as suicide bombers,” he stated.
