Kenya: Student gives birth to triplets
A Form Four student has given birth to triplets at the Nyamira County referral hospital in Kenya.
Winnie Mong’are, a student at Nyakeore Secondary School, started experiencing labour pains on Tuesday and was rushed to the hospital by her mother.
Shortly after her admission, she delivered three daughters weighing 2.5 kilograms, 2.5 kilograms and 1.7 kilograms respectively.
When the Nation.co.ke visited the student at the hospital Thursday, her mother, Hellen Moraa Mong’are, was tutoring her on how to take care of the new-borns.
“I did not know that I will give birth to triplets. It will be a serious challenge to fend for them, considering that my parents are poor,” the student said.
She said she wanted to continue with her studies, especially to sit for her Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations at the end of the year.
But she was quick to add that the triplets will now pose a serious challenge to her studies.
Her mother appealed to well-wishers to help settle medical bills after her daughter underwent caesarean operation.
