He is accompanied by EFF chief whip, Floyd Shivambu and the party's national spokesperson, Mbuyiseni Ndlozi. His supporters are wearing red T-shirts with the words "Hands-off Julius Malema."

Prosecutor Andrew Laka asked the court to adjourn the trial because some lawyers in the case were not available.

The State alleges Malema substantially benefited from the tender payment to On-Point, using it to buy a farm and a Mercedes-Benz.

On Monday EFF supporters spent the night at the Nirvana community hall to show support for their leader. Malema is out on a bail of R10,000. His co-accused Gangwa and Dichabe are out on R40,000 bail.

Limpopo police are patrolling the streets around the Polokwane High Court. Several streets have been closed. Police say lawlessness will not be tolerated and those who break the law will be arrested immediately.
