5 Schools for Junior Graphic Spelling Competition final

Five schools have qualified for the grand finale of the national Junior Graphic Spelling Competition which will be held at the GNAT Hall today.

The schools are the Perpetual Help School, New Achimota, Accra; T. I. Ahmadiyya Basic ‘B’ JHS, Kumasi; the  Wesley International School, Koforidua; S.O.S Hermann Gmeiner School, Tema and the defending champions, Kabore School Complex from Ho. 

In all, 13 schools participated in the knockout competition.

For the knockout competition, the schools were grouped into four.  The first group was made up of Shine Education Centre,  Abokobi-Boi,  Accra; Perpetual Help School, New Achimota,  Accra, and the Happy Kids Academy, Kwashieman, Accra. Perpetual Help came first with 38 points.

The second group had  Acropolis School, Gbawe, Accra; St Aidan’s Anglican School, Wa; and T. I. Ahmadiyya Basic ‘B’ JHS, Kumasi. T. I. Ahmadiyya topped the group with 26 points. 

The third group comprised Papty Complex School, Sowutuom, Accra;  Wesley International School, Koforidua; and Dahin Sheli JHS, Tamale, with Wesley International taking the first position with 30 points.

Mizpah International School, Accra, SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, Tema; University Primary, Cape Coast; and Bankoe Evangelical Presby E.P. School, Ho, formed the fourth group, which was won by SOS Hermann Gmeiner School with 29 points. 

The contest, which is meant to improve the vocabulary of JHS students through spelling, also boosted the confidence and capabilities of participants.
