National Junior Graphic Spelling Competition Knockout begins tomorrow
The knockout and final stages of the National Junior Graphic Fan Club Spelling Competition begins tomorrow, August 21, 2014.
Mrs Mavis Kitcher, Editor of the Junior Graphic, said 16 schools would participate in the knockout competition which takes off at the GNAT Hall, Accra, to select the best four for the final contest on Friday, August, 22, 2014.
The participating schools are the Shine Education Centre, Abokobi-Boi, Accra; the Perpetual Help School, New Achimota, Accra; Happy Kids Academy, Kwashieman, Accra; Papty Complex School, Sowutuom; Kids Paradise, Taifa, Accra; Mizpah International School, Accra and the Acropolis School, Gbawe, Accra.
The rest are the SOS Hermann Gmeiner School, Tema; Wesley International School, Koforidua; the St Aidan’s Anglican School, Wa; the Dahin Sheli JHS, Tamale; the Pentecost Preparatory, Takoradi; the Aningazanga Primary School, Bolgatanga; the University Primary, Cape Coast; the Bankoe Evangelical Presby E.P. School, Ho and the T.I. Ahmadiyya Basic ‘B’ JHS, Kumasi.
At the knockout stages, she said, the competing schools would be put into four groups. Each group will comprise four schools competing among themselves.
The four schools which will emerge winners from each group will qualify for the final and then be joined by the defending champions, the Kabore School Complex from Ho.
Mrs Kitcher explained that the contest which was meant to improve the vocabulary of JHS students through spelling also gave participants confidence in themselves and their capabilities.
