Aklerh’s feel-good ‘Mash Up’ out
The sprightly Afrobeats track that came out on January 15, has Aklerh in a sort of reset mode as she shifts into a groove not previously identified with her but where she still seems to be solidly grounded and saying ‘I’m ok here as well.’
One catches the irresistible Afrobeats feel that’s making waves in contemporary music circles around the world in ‘Mash Up.’ Aklerh, however, shows it is a Ghanaian thing as she throws in bits of Ga, Twi and pidgin English and strings things together with some Jamaican patois on the song produced by Tubhani Muzik on the Revolution Record label.
Aklerh, through material on her previously released ‘Dancehall Queen’ EP, had already indicated her best attributes on songs which include playfulness and invitation to people to have a blast. That’s why on ‘Mash Up,’ she touches on elements like ‘celebration’, ‘jubilation,’ ‘popping champagne’ and ‘good vibes only.’
One could realise that being ‘young, wild and free,’ she had adjusted her mood to have a good time and ‘Mash Up’ really pulls anyone who hears the song to also have a good time whether in the club, at a party or at home.
It is early days yet to ask Aklerh in what direction she would be going after ‘Mash Up.’ What she has demonstrated is that she is not afraid to embrace whatever style catches her fancy. That’s the stuff of bold folks and the music business can never have enough of her type.
The ‘Mash Up’ single is available at all major digital music marketing outlets including Boomplay, Apple, Spotify, Deezer. Tidal and Audiomack.
