Ambolley, others for Highlife Music Jamboree Night

The two outfits have put together a bash dubbed Highlife Music Jamboree Night, for Saturday, March 5 at Vivivi Studios, Onyasia Close, West Legon in Accra, to acknowledge the music that has entertained, inspired and enriched our lives over the years.

Scheduled to happen between 5.00pm to 9.00pm, performers on the bill include Gyedu Blay Ambolley, Awurama Agyapong, Awingura, Mma Bila, Naya Plange and Papa Djina. The Vivivi Cultural Group and Vivivi Band will also be in attendance.

“It’s a mix of experienced as well as up-and-coming acts, all with distinctive approaches to the music so guests can look forward to a stimulating night of Highlife,” a Vivivi Studio source said.

“In a way, it is also a night of tribute to all Highlife greats including King Onyina, K. Gyasi, King Bruce, Jerry Hansen, ET Mensah, Nana Ampadu, CK Mann, EK Nyame, PK Yamoah and others whose immeasurable contributions have influenced and shaped Highlife till now. It is not an event to be missed.”

Apart from music, there will also be short talks on topics such as ‘Re-Instating Traditional Music in Contemporary Contexts’ and ‘Traditional Music and Dance.’
