Different flavours of Highlife were dished out to an enthusiastic audience on August 2, 2026, in Spain when the ‘Highlife to the World (H2TW) – The Black Star Experience 2027’ campaign was officially launched at Barcelona’s Seasea Club.
Ghana’s globally acknowledged musical style will be the soundtrack for the nation’s 70th independence anniversary celebration next year.
The upcoming H2TW campaign is structured to boost the music to selected cities across Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas through workshops, masterclasses and concerts to augment the milestone celebration.
Performers at the Barcelona launch included Bessa Simons, Jupitar, Obrafour, Stonebwoy and the Lucky Star Band, with opening sets by DJ Logs, DJ Demo, DJ King Solo, and Nigerian guest DJ Enny.
The event got a diplomatic touch as Ambassador Kurlsoume Sinare Baffoe and Gideon Aryeequaye of the Creative Arts Agency (CAA) led proceedings alongside other dignitaries from Ghana and Spain.
The CAA boss was emphatic that a lot of seriousness has been attached to the H2TW campaign as it could be an effective gateway for talented Ghanaian creatives to reach new markets. He pointed out that promoting and preserving Highlife was essential for Ghana’s overall growth.
The Presidential Aide and Coordinator of the Black Star Experience, Rex Omar; Ghana’s Permanent Delegate to UNESCO in Paris, H E Meredith Naakai Lamptey, and H E Kurlsoume Sinare Baffoe all promised to help see Highlife fly high to invigorate the nation's 70th independence celebration.
The Events Lead at the Seasea Club, Lara Torres, indicated that her venue was proud to host a brand that had been a wonderful musical gift to the world.
H2TW is organised by Showbiz Africa, Musicians Union of Ghana, Black Star Experience, Benayacon, and the Ghana Embassy in Madrid, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Creative
Arts Agency, the Ghana Tourism Authority and the National Folklore Board.
A Highlife bash slated for the Laboma Beach Resort in Accra later in the year will give the full details of the H2TW 2027 roadmap.
