The event dubbed ‘Reggae Jerk’ was in celebration of Jamaica's 61st independence and in attendance was the Jamaican Consul to Ghana, Mr Isaac Emmil Osei-Bonsu.

Mr Osei-Bonsu shared his excitement to be present as he enjoyed the blend of classic reggae and highlife tunes while savouring the wide selection of Jamaican and Ghanaian dishes available.

He remarked, “the day was a celebration of freedom, culture, and the universal language of music which continue to unite the human race”.

As the singer, composer, instrumentalist and producer, Ambolley thrilled with some of his hit songs Adwoa Amissah, Onam Daaze, Black Woman and Fa no dem ara, the audience danced the night away.

The event which lasted until midnight also featured individual performances from Ambolley’s band — the Sekondi Band International who performed a selection of popular reggae, highlife and RnB tunes.

According to the owner of the restaurant, Mrs Elizabeth Olympio Emanuel, such events were organised as a way to transport guests straight to the heart of Jamaica.

The brand manager of the restaurant, Mr Kevoy Burton, added that “‘Jamrock’ is the nickname for Jamaica and so we aim to present our Caribbean and African patronage with authentic island-inspired culture and food”.

Mr Burton, who is also the President of the Ghana Caribbean Association, addressed his concern of the association not having an official office and hoped to resolve that issue during his tenure.

With the ambience filled with music and the aroma of food, the guests danced the night away with one guest, Pearl Adjetey, expressing her love for Ambolley's songs for which she came.
