The group also sponsored all 26 awards for the Speech and Prize-giving Day celebration to deserving students in various categories including academic performance, well-behaved and sports.

The event, held as part of the anniversary at the school in Sogakope in the South Tongu District in the Volta Region was themed: “Artificial Intelligence: Implications for future of jobs and cyber security”.

The colourful celebration also featured the school’s cadet display and cultural performance, mentorship series and a lecture from the President of the Accra Institute of Technology (AIT), Professor Clement Dzidonu, who was the guest speaker; sporting activities with students as well as dinner.

Role of AI

At the event, Professor Clement Dzidonu, underscored the important role of AI and called on students and staff to embrace AI in helping their performance.

“As students much more is expected of you with the introduction of AI; AI can help you achieve anything. You can input your questions and it will provide all the answers you need,” he said.

He urged the students to exploit AI to enhance their academic knowledge instead of social media; adding that with the presence of AI, passing exams should not be difficult as AI has the capacity of generating several questions and answering them, which would be enough for passing exams.

Professor Dzidonu also called on teachers not to be left out of the AI technology but use it efficiently to generate data on the best methods of teaching students in the technological era.

For his part, the National SOSA President, Stephen Dotse, indicated that “AI is no doubt establishing itself as an essential ingredient for achieving success and relevance.

“I encourage you all to, therefore, do your best to embrace the change and the opportunities AI offers for your studies and overall development,” he said.

The SOSA’94 President, Dr Godfred Amewu, eulogised the year group for their commitment to the development of the school over the years and touting their achievements.

The Headmaster of SOGASCO, Newman Dziedzoave, also expressed gratitude, to SOSA’94 stating that “we salute the magnanimity of your donations: SOSA 94; you have indeed occupied the top echelon of all SOSANS and bridged the gap between all stakeholders and School Management and changed the narrative”.
