Methodist College of Education holds sixth matriculation
The Methodist College of Education at Akyem Aboabo near Oda in the Eastern Region has held its sixth matriculation ceremony at Oda, during which 131 fresh students were admitted to the college.
The acting Principal of the college, Dr Johnson Yeboah Gyekye, advised the students to take their academic work seriously, abide by the college’s regulations and respect their tutors.

He said as prospective professionals and future leaders of the nation, they should eschew bad behaviour and negative practices such as alcoholism, use of narcotic drugs and sexual immorality that could ruin their lives.
Dr Gyekye also urged them to be self-disciplined and be role models in society.

He enjoined the students to be hygienically clean and avoid littering in order to keep the college’s campus tidy.
The acting principal announced that the government had fully absorbed the college into the public educational system so all qualified applicants could seek admission to the institution.
He appealed to well-to-do Akyem Kotoku citizens, both at home and abroad, to help the college in the provision of a hostel and other facilities.
Dr Gyekye further appealed to donor agencies to assist in the development of the college.

He also urged landlords in the various communities in the area to provide free accommodation for students on teaching practice.
