A total of GH¢65,000 was committed to renovating the laboratories which covered the repair of leaking roof, replacement of ceiling, replacement of louvre frames and blades, replacement of electrical systems and other interior and exterior fittings to make studies comfortable for students.

The project was handed over at the 55th homecoming congress of OMSU held on the theme: “Restoring the Values of Our Alma Mater; All Hands on Deck,” at the school in Ho.

The Volta Regional Minister, Dr Archibald Yao Letsa, in an address, urged past students of schools to be interested in the development of their alma mater.

Eschew political colours

Dr Letsa also advised that political colours should be relegated to the background on issues related to development, adding that “it doesn’t really matter who is in power, it is a matter of development of the nation”.

He urged Ghanaians to embrace all national projects and take them seriously with the assurance that the government would extend support to all those who undertook projects under the planting for food and jobs and planting for crops and investment.

He announced that the first factory in the Volta Region under the one-district, one-factory policy was to be inaugurated at Adaklu very soon.

The Board Chairman, Dr Gameli Norgbey, said the board presided on policies and gave an assurance that it would do all within its powers to help the school regain past glories.

In a welcome address, the headmaster of the school, Reverend S.S. Asieni, commended past students for their contributions towards the development of the school.

The Volta Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Nana Asomah Hinneh, who chaired the function, urged all past students to be proud of their school and contribute to its development because the government’s budget could not entirely support all schools.
