Christian Owusu, after his arrest and arraignment before the Atasemanso Circuit Court in Kumasi pleaded guilty to a charge of robbery and asked for forgiveness.
The court considered his plea and handed him the minimum sentence of 10 years with hard labour.
The facts of the case are that on July 21, 2026, Owusu threatened and robbed a woman of her handbag containing personal items and cash while she was on her way to the Konkromase township in Kumasi.
The victim reported the incident to the Ashanti Central District Police Command on that same day.
Following investigations, Owusu was arrested on August 4, 2026, and was put before the Atasemanso Circuit Court in Kumasi, presided over by Kwaku Baah Frimpong on August 7.
He admitted to the crime, pleaded guilty, and asked for forgiveness.
The court, after considering his plea, handed him the minimum term of 10 years with hard labour.
He has since been transferred to Kumasi Central Prisons to begin his sentence.
