24 Korle Bu workers honoured

Twenty-four workers of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra have been honoured for their dedication and hard work towards improving service delivery at the hospital this year.

Out of the about 4,000 workers of the hospital, the 24, who include doctors, nurses and technicians, were rewarded at the Fourth Awards Night of the hospital in Accra.

The awardees were presented with citations and 24-inch LED television sets, while the overall best worker was presented with a refrigerator.

Awardees

Mr Daniel Lankai Hansen of the General Services Department was adjudged the Best Worker for 2014 for his commitment, hard work and dedication to duty.

In a chat, Mr Hansen said he was stunned when he was declared the best worker for the year.

According to him, even though his work came with challenges, he always put in his best effort.

“I suffered severe burns four years ago but that did not deter me from working hard,” he said. 

He impressed on his colleague workers to be committed to their work to help improve health service delivery in the country. 

Dr Fred Dramani was adjudged the Best Worker in the Surgery Department, while Mrs Margaret Odoi was the Best Worker at the Child Health Department.

Others who were honoured were Ms Victoria Afi Doe of the Accident Centre, Nana Araba Inkoom of the Cardiothoracic Department and Dr Edem Anyiba of the Plastic Surgery Department.

Commendation

In an address, the acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the hospital, Dr Gilbert Buckle, said although it had been a turbulent year for Korle Bu, it was necessary to honour hardworking members of staff.

He commended all the workers for their effort to improve services at the hospital and indicated that the authorities were working towards offering them the necessary allowances and medical benefits.
