Accra: Picking up the pieces [video]

One week after the flooding and fire of June 3, the residents of Central Accra are still struggling to pick up the pieces of their homes, their businesses, and their lives.

Last week, Graphic Online collected stories of flood recovery from Accra locals living and working in Adabraka. In this brief collection of interviews, we see how the vulnerable communities living along the drainage canals had their livelihoods devestated by these events. As they welcomed us into their ruined homes and businesses, their testimonies of individual defiance in the shadow of national tragedy reminded us that the great events which frame history, both good and bad, often result from the collective decisions taken by everyday people.
