The vehicle which was moving towards Accra central from Adabraka was said to have developed what was suspected to be an electrical fault, according to an eyewitness.

According to the Photo Editor of the Graphic Group, Douglas Anane Frimpong, the driver of the taxi, who had just picked some passengers, said he quickly parked after detecting smoke from the bonnet.

He attempted to put the fire out but was unsuccessful as it engulfed the vehicle.

Fire service personnel responded to the distress call and quenched the fire but not before it had completely destroyed the vehicle, a Nissan March with registration number GW 6610 – 12.

A similar incident happened at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in front of the Vodafone offices in Accra in the afternoon of Wednesday May 28, 2014.

That vehicle with registration number GS 7911 Y was also completely destroyed under similar circumstances.
