Twelve victims were sent there after the disaster, seven of whom have been discharged, while one of them lost his life while on admission.

The acting Director of the centre, Dr Edem Anyigba, made this known to the Daily Graphic yesterday when the Action Chapel International (ACI) donated medical supplies valued at GH¢30,000 to aid the treatment of the victims at the hospital.

He said the centre would perform surgery on the four victims in the course of the week as part of their treatment.

Action Chapel support

The donation by the church included surgical gloves, digital thermometers, endotracheal tubes, face masks, zinc oxide plasters, zinacef injection, bandages and saline solutions.

Handing over the consignment, the Senior Executive Pastor of the Prayer Cathedral, Bishop Ebenezer Obodai, said the donation was to help treat the patients.

He said the items were obtained following a collaboration among the leadership of the church, the National Association of Charismatic Churches and other donors.

Bishop Obodai urged authorities managing the various funds to implement an auditing system to ensure the transparent use of the funds.

Commendation

The Director of Administration at the KBTH, Mr Nurudeen Mohammed, who received the donation, said donations by various organisations had helped in the treatment of the victims.

He explained that the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) did not cover most of the treatment and drugs that were administered to the patients, adding that the latest supplies would go a long way to support the treatment of the victims.

He commended the ACI for its kind gesture and show of compassion towards the victims.
