Adwoa Safo brings joy to 2,000 underprivileged children

Former Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Sarah Adwoa Safo, brought smiles to the faces of 2,000 orphans and street children during a heartwarming Christmas celebration under the auspices of the Adwoa Safo Foundation.

Held on December 28, 2024, at the University of Nuclear and Allied Sciences in Accra, the event marked a continuation of the Foundation’s annual tradition of hosting a Christmas party for underprivileged children. Coincidentally, the date also celebrates Madam Adwoa Safo’s birthday, adding a personal touch to the festive occasion.

Children received food, toys, and educational materials, including reading books, pens, and pencils, reflecting Lawyer Safo’s strong advocacy for education.

Commitment to Social Protection

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the event, Madam Safo highlighted the importance of robust social protection policies in addressing the needs of the less privileged.

“Issues of social protection are not very well developed in our country. There is a need for an effective policy framework to support the weak and marginalized in society. This is an area I am deeply passionate about,” she said.

Her philanthropic commitment is deeply rooted in her upbringing, inspired by her father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo, who is widely known for his charitable work.

Legacy of giving

Since its inception in 2019, the Adwoa Safo Foundation has earned widespread admiration for its consistent support of underprivileged communities. The Foundation frequently donates to orphanages and organises programmes to improve the lives of vulnerable children.

The annual Christmas celebration provides children with an opportunity to experience the warmth and joy of the festive season, often out of reach due to their challenging circumstances.
