The workshop, which was organised by the African Partners Pool (APP), was aimed at bridging the gap between Ghanaian businesses and their customers to boost industrial development in the country.

Addressing the opening ceremony, the President of the AGI, Mr James Asare Adjei, said the association was leading advocacy initiatives to support and train members to build capacity to compete with others locally and internationally.

He said the challenges in the country’s business environment, especially in the area of energy supply, needed urgent attention by the government, in order to reduce unemployment in the county.

He said other sources of concern and worry was the high rate of foreign exchange, high cost of  machinery, high cost of borrowing from the bank and working material.

He said there was the need to strengthen the members of the association and expose them to  opportunities  to enhance the development of local industries.

Addressing the workshop, the Manager of the APP, Mr Ben Yaw Manu,  said there was the need to support local entrepreneurs.

He said the objective of the APP was to support  the association to address the challenges facing its members.

He said among the challenges facing the members  were  lack of adequate electricity supply, high rate of loan interest from the banks and taxes  which made it difficult  to compete with other international competitors.

He stressed the need for regular training and government support by offering flexible bank interest and marketing opportunities to boost local industries.
