The festival offered them the opportunity to renew their allegiance to the paramount chief of the area, Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III and plan development programme for the area.

Odeneho Akoto sat in state at the forecourt of the Akwamuman Palace and received his chiefs who pledged their loyalty to him and the Akwamu state.

The Okyenhene, Osafogyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin and the Agogohene, Nana Akuaku Sarpong among other chiefs,  sent delegations to the festival which was also attended by the Queen of the Akwamuman, Nana  Afrakuma II and the Queen of Akwamufie, Nana Yaa Asaa Safoa II.

The two-hour celebration was witnessed by the town folks who turned up in their beautiful traditional regallia.

Akwamuman was once a prominent state with territories covering most of the southern part of present day Ghana and with many Akans tracing their roots to Akwamu.

The area is noted for its rich cultural and tourist heritage, including the oldest archaeological sites, the Akosombo Dam, Adomi Bridge and a number of islands.

Odeneho Akoto who was enthroned in February 2011 is seeking to rekindle the historic, cultural, political and spiritual bondage of the state with its kith and kin dotted around Ghana and in the diaspora.
