Appiah holds soccer clinic for kids

Former Black Stars captain, Stephen Appiah has began a soccer clinic for kids across the country.

 Appiah, who is also the 2016 Milo Champions League icon, is mentoring hundreds children and will be traveling to selected regional capitals across the country to hold  clinics ahead of each zonal competition.

The former Juventus star, at the launch of the 2016 promised that he would be conducting soccer clinics as part of his iconic work for this year. 

“This year, as part of my iconic work, I will be going round the four selected regional capitals which will be hosting the four zonal events to conduct soccer clinics for over 400 school kids in each zonal competition,” he said.

 Miss Marilyn Ofori, Category Development Manager (Beverages) of Nestle Ghana Limited said, “The soccer clinic had become very necessary because as a brand Milo wanted to give a strong foundation to many more of its target than it had done in the past.

The soccer clinic, aside inculcating in the selected young talents the basic rudiments of football artistry at the grass root level, is also designed to imbibe in them five key important values such as focus, teamwork, determination, perseverance and discipline.

The coaches and other Physical Education instructors who accompany the kids, will also be taken through a coaching clinic on the basics of coaching and kid development. 

The coaching clinic is to be directed by Frances Oti Akenteng, Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association, Mas-Ud Dramani, head coach of the Black Satellites, and Baba Nuru Malam,Technical Director  of Tamale Utrecht Football Academy. 

Meanwhile, Ofinso Amoawi Methodist Primary from the Ashanti Region and Fountain Gate Primary School from the Brong Ahafo region have booked their places to represent their respective regions for the Milo Champions League finals  to be played between June 23 to 25  at the Paa Joe Park, KNUST. 

Amoawi was crowned champions of Zone Two which was contested by  six schools each from the Ashanti and the Brong Ahafo regions. They  beat Fountain Gate Primary in the final.

 Adusei Opoku Darlington and Opoku Randy,both of Fountain Gate were adjuded the Most Disciplined, and Most Focused Players of the tournament. Christopher Adu of Amoawi Methodist Primary was adjudged the Most Determined Player of the tournament. 

The Team Work Award went to Fountain Gate International School. 

Meanwhile,12 schools drawn from the Central and Western regions will be meeting at the Adisadel College for the Zone Three qualifier from today to Friday.
