Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Effia Tenge who disclosed the charges following Paintsil’s arrest, says the ex-international will be arraigned before court Thursday.

Paintsil is reported to have slapped the East Legon District Police Commander, DSP Emmanuel Basintale in the right eye during interrogation in a case of car theft reported against him by his wife.

“He was invited by the district commander for him to answer questions of stealing (a) vehicle which was reported by his wife, and in the course of the investigations he became furious over the questions that were being posed to him, and as a result of that, he assaulted the district commander. And because the district commander has become a victim in this case, the regional commander ACP Bonga (Timothy Bonga Yoosa) has directed that he steps aside for the crime officer in the district to handle the case, since he is now a party to the case. So he has stepped aside and we are expecting to complete our investigations so that by tomorrow (Thursday) morning we can arraign him before court,” the police PRO told Accra based Joy FM.
