The project is expected to last for a period of six months and is being undertaken by Doncross Constructions Limited. The road is part of the reshaping of roads project the government is embarking on in cocoa-growing areas in the country.

At the ceremony at Ahwerewam, the minister said the project was a demonstration of the government’s determination to bring about improvement in the lives of the people.

He assured the people that the government would not renege on its promise to make life easy for the people, especially those living in the remote areas of the country.

He said the government, through the Ahafo Ano South District Assembly, would build a six-unit classroom basic school block for the town.

Swift completion

The District Chief Executive of Ahafo Ano South, Mr Gabriel Barimah, urged the people of Ahwerewam, Pokukrom and Sabronom to support the contractor to allow for swift completion of the project.

He expressed gratitude on behalf of the people to President John Dramani Mahama for assisting the communities with development projects.

Great relief

The aspiring parliamentary candidate for Ahafo Ano South District on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress, Mr Chris Boadi Mensah, urged the contractor to endeavour to do a good work.

“When the road is motorable it would bring great relief to the people who over the years have had to travel on a very bad road,” he said.

He further noted that when the road was brought into shape it would  ease transportation problems farmers in the area faced in carting their farm produce to big markets in the district.

In addition, he said the government was also preparing to drill mechanised boreholes for the people in the area to help them have easy access to potable water.

Mr Boadi Mensah was thankful to the regional minister for his role in making the road project a reality.
