Ashanti Zongo caucus congratulates Mahama

The Ashanti Regional Zongo Caucus of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has expressed confidence in president-elect John Dramani Mahama to work to transform lives in the Zongos in the next four years.

In a congratulatory message to the President for his victory in the December 7 election, the Caucus said the Zongos were expecting infrastructure and human resource development in the communities.

It said it was not for nothing that the Zongos rooted heavily for President Mahama and the NDC in the elections.

The caucus, according to the statement, was convinced that the President was committed to the development of the Zongo communities.

Describing the president’s victory as the will of the people, the statement urged all Ghanaians to give him the maximum support to enable him to deliver.

It called for unity amongst all Ghanaians because that was one sure way of pushing the development of the nation to expected height.

Alhaji Othman Yahya, Ashanti Regional Coordinator and Alhaji Alhassan Ibn Ibrahim, Regional Secretary jointly signed the statement.

THE Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has stated that the resort to the Constitution and the law to resolve electoral disputes is consistent with democratic development.

It has subsequently called on the leadership of all political to restrain their supporters and members from acting in an unlawful manner and criminal conduct.

A statement in Accra today (Friday) and jointly signed by Professor Miranda Greenstreet and Justice V. C. R. A. C Crabbe, joint chairpersons of CODEO, reiterated its earlier call on politcal parties, their supporters and especially, their leaders to refrain from “making statements that could inflame passions and taking actions that could breach the law and peace in Ghana”.

It condemned all the violent actions reported in the post-election period.

It also urged the security agencies, particularly the Ghana Police Service, to continue to maintain utmost professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
