BA Muslims ask NPP to call Abronye DC to order

The Spokesperson for the Brong Ahafo Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Suala Abdallah has called on the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to call to order, the Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer of the party for bringing the name of the regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Umar Abdul Kadir into disrepute.

He said the outspoken youth organizer has defamed the office of the regional chief imam and has treated the entire Muslim community in the region with contempt.

Abronye DC is alleged to have said in a radio interview that a document he has cited indicates that a former Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Mr Eric Opoku claims Alhaji Umar Abdul Kadir drank GHȻ15,000 worth of Coca-Cola when he visited him (the minister) at his office.

But reacting to the allegations on Okay FM Wednesday morning, Alhaji Abdallah said it was untrue that the regional Chief Imam had drunk Coca-Cola drinks worth GHȻ15,000 either at the former minister's house or office.

He said the said amount that Abronye DC claims to have been consumed alone by the regional Chief Imam was equivalent to half-a-trailer load.

Alhaji Abdallah has therefore, admonished the maverick politician to withdraw the statement and apologise to the regional Chief Imam and the entire Muslim community in the Brong Ahafo Region.

"It is disrespect and disgrace to the Muslim community", he stated, adding that even the entire Muslim community in the region or country could not consume the said quantity of the soft drink.

Alhaji Abdalla said the allegations by Abronye DC could even lead to the removal of the Chief Imam from the office he occupies, hence the need for Abronye DC to clear the Chief Imam from the mess.

He has also urged Abronye DC to furnish them (the Muslim leadership in the region) with copies of the documents he claims to have cited on the matter.
