The teenager was reported to have died last Saturday morning in his room at a guest house at Mankranso.
His remains have been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) mortuary pending autopsy.
When the deceased checked into the Maxllen Guest House he used the name Nana Kofi but he has been identified as Abraham Awembe, a resident of Kunsu, near Mankranso.
Unconfirmed reports suspect he might have drunk some poisonous substance before checking into the guest house, leading to his subsequent death
Authorities at the guest house and close residents are assisting the Mankranso Police to investigate circumstances surrounding his death
However, the Mankranso District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr John Adusei, who confirmed the incident to The Mirror said the deceased had booked a room for one night at the guest house last Friday.
He said the hotel attendant was expecting the deceased to check out by 12 noon the following day (last Saturday) but said all attempts by the attendant to reach him on phone failed.
As a result, he said other workers at the guest house joined the attendant to look for him, on suspicion that he (deceased) had gone out of his room in the night without their notice.
DSP Adusei said when the search for the deceased came to naught they had no option than to force open the door of his room and found him on the bed foaming at the mouth.
He said they quickly informed the Mankranso police and the deceased was rushed to KATH but was pronounced dead on arrival.
His remains has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy.
He said the district police command was investigating the matter.
