According to the police, 50 police and 30 military men had been deployed to the town to maintain law and order.

Contrary to reports in the media that six persons were killed, the Brong Ahafo Regional Police Crime Officer, Superintendent of Police Alhaji Mahama Arhin, confirmed, after visiting Tuobodom and the Techiman Holy Family Hospital in the company of the Brong Ahafo Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr Maxwell Atingane, that five persons died, while eight others got seriously injured through gunshots.

Those who got injured and are receiving treatment at the Techiman Holy Family Hospital include a pregnant woman and a physically challenged person.

Eyewitness

An eyewitness, who pleaded anonymity, told the Daily Graphic that the incident happened like a Hollywood movie when some people wearing masks and sitting in the bucket attached to a motorbike started shooting indiscriminately in an area of the town called Krotia.

“The incident happened in Hollywood fashion and before we could come to terms with what was happening, the perpetrators had gone,” he said.

All shops remain closed, while residents, most of whom are farmers, cannot go to their farms for fear of their lives.

Motorbike

Alhaji Arhin said one of the motorbikes used to commit the crime and abandoned had been impounded by the police.

He said the police would use the registration number to ascertain the owner of the motorbike, so that he or she could be arrested to assist in investigations.
