An Okada rider has died while his pillion rider remains in critical condition after a cargo truck reportedly ran over their motorcycle at Budumburam near Kasoa.
The accident, which occurred on the main highway leading to Winneba, according to eyewitnesses, resulted from an attempt by the driver of the cargo truck with registration number GN-4199-22 to maneuver a parked vehicle and crash head-on with the motorbike from the opposite direction.
The rider, who suffered a severe head injury, reportedly died at the scene, while the passenger sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment.
People who witnessed the incident reportedly intercepted the driver of the cargo truck and handed him over to the police.
The driver has since been arrested to assist police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
