Chinese cultural exchange centre launched at Fortune City in Accra
A Cultural Exchange Centre, has been launched at Fortune City in Accra by the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana to help strengthen the relationship between Ghana and China.
The Centre will run a Chinese Language proficiency programme alongside others such as Tea Culture and Chinese Martial Arts-Kunfu and Chinese Calligraphy.
Traditional Chinese Medicine, Chinese Shadow Boxing-Taichi among other programmes would also be run at the centre.
At the launch ceremony on Monday, the Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Ghana, Dr Meilian Mei, said the courses were expected to strengthen the bilateral ties between Ghana and China.
“We believe that we are one and that China and the rest of the world, including Ghana are now coming together because of a number converging reasons and it is just proper to deepen our relationship in other to realize our dreams,” she said.
She announced that the centre would have a library to outline many educational exchange programmes for students and the community members.
On his Part, the Managing Director of Sunda Real Estate Company Limited, Li Wei said that the Confucius Institute was currently offering Chinese Language proficiency and Chinese cultural course at eight teaching sites with an enrolment of more than 3000 Ghanaian students.
He said with the recommendation of the company, more than 120 Ghanaian students had obtained scholarship with other Chinese for their PhD, MA, for one year of more study in China.
