Coca Cola supports GJA awards

The Coca Cola Ghana Limited (CCGL) has presented a cheque for GH¢5,000 to the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in support of the 19th GJA awards scheduled for August 30, this year.

At a ceremony in Accra at which the cheque was presented, the Vice President of GJA, Mr Mathias Tibu, described CCGL as a faithful partner of the association who had over the years supported the association in the organisation of its awards.

He said the company’s latest support would go a long way to encourage and motivate journalists to work harder.

Awards Ceremony

This year’s awards ceremony will be held on the theme; “Using development journalism to discern and defend the national interest.” 

It is expected to be attended by dignitaries such as President John Dramani Mahama and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

The Head of Public Affairs and Communication of Coca Cola Equatorial Africa, Ms Ama Bawuah, said the company’s sponsorship was in line with its desire to support the development of the media.

She added that the role of journalists in nation building could not be underestimated and pledged CCGL’s continued support for the GJA awards as well as other programmes of the association.
