He further appealed to Konkombas living in various parts of the country to desist from acts that could undermine the progress of the country.

Mr Wujangi who has officially assumed office, was at the market to fraternise with the traders and also to inform them of his appointment to the high office as the deputy chief of staff in charge of operations.

He was met at the market by the Secretary of the Konkomba Market Association, Mr Anthony Tanyan, and other executive members who gave Mr Wujangi and his delegation a tumultuous welcome.

The visit by the delegation to the market of about 5,000 people also attracted other Konkombas resident in various parts of the Accra metropolis.

Addressing the leaders, the deputy chief of staff urged those whose names were not captured on the voters’ register to endeavour to register when “the Electoral Commission begins a new registration exercise.”

He further asked those who had attained the age of 18 and above to make it a point to register as well to keep faith with their civic responsibility.

Sanitation

Touching on sanitation, Mr Wujangi appealed to the traders to always keep the market clean to avoid contracting diseases.

He underscored the need for them to regularly participate in the monthly Sanitation Day exercise, saying that doing so would guarantee them good health.

Commendation

The Secretary to the market congratulated Mr Wujangi for his appointment to the high office and expressed appreciation to President John Mahama for recognising one of their own.

He described the appointment of Mr Wujangi as apt and an honour done the Konkomba community and expressed the belief that the image of Konkombas would be uplifted in the light of the appointment.

Mr Wujangi has contributed his quota to advancing the cause of the Konkomba community in various capacities, including serving as former President of the Konkomba Youth Association (KOYA). He was also one-time in charge of Konkomba literacy where he translated the English version of the Bible into the Konkomba language.
