Driver charged with defilement

A 29-year-old driver at Lashibi near Tema in Greater Accra is in police grip for allegedly defiling a three-year-old-girl.

Steven Donkor, who was arraigned in the Accra Circuit Court 5 on Wednesday pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement and was remanded into police custody to reappear on April 17, 2018.

Presenting the fact of the case, ASP Agnes Boafo told the court that the mother of the victim resides at Nungua whilst Donkor lives at Lashibi.

Donkor, he said has been going to the victim’s house to use a gym which is located in the house.

He said on March 24, 2018, between 7:30pm and 8:00pm, at a time the mother of the victim had left the house to attend nature’s call outside of the house, Donkor came around and took advantage of the victim.

The 9-year-old brother of the victim was sleeping at the incident occurred.

He said two days after on March 26, 2017, when the mother was bathing the victim, she [victim] accused Donkor of inserting his fingers in her vagina and later followed with his penis.

The matter was reported to the police and Donkor was arrested and charged accordingly.
