EDAIF supports school, health centre in U/E Region
The Export Trade, Agricultural and Industrial Development Fund (EDAIF) has given cash and material support to two deprived communities in the Upper East Region to help improve education and healthcare delivery services in those areas. Whereas the Tongo Senior High Technical School at Baare in the Talensi district received GHc12,000, the Kologu Zuo Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in the Kassena Nankana municipality was presented with medical equipment such as beds, sphygmomanometer, weighing scales and glucometer, all valued at GHc10,000.
Presentation
At separate ceremonies to present the items to the two institutions, a board member of EDAIF, Captain Robert Tindaana (retd), advised the students of Tongo SHS to take their studies seriously.
He also entreated the people not to always rely on others for support but take their own initiatives to address their challenges.
The Tamale Manager of EDAIF, Frank Enyimayew, indicated that as part of its corporate social responsibility, the fund had set aside an amount of GHc220,000 to support both educational and health institutions in all 10 regions in the country.
Appreciation
The headmaster of the school, Thomas Apaana, expressed appreciation to their benefactors for the intervention, which, he said, would facilitate teaching and learning.
A board member of the school, Leo Anaafu, said the people of Baare had also contributed some money for the school project.
Kologu Zuo
The officer in charge of the Kologu Zuo CHPS compound, Mahama Habib, and the Zuo sub-district head of health services, Apam Azumah, both assured the management of EDAIF that the medical equipment would be put to good use. They also commended EDAIF for complementing government's effort in bringing healthcare delivery to the doorstep of the rural people.
