Ekow Black: Court grants bail to TikToker accused of assaulting girlfriend

A TikToker captured in a viral video assaulting his girlfriend has been granted bail by the Adabraka District Court.

Christford Affadu Danful, popularly known as Ekow Black, aged 25, was admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢30,000 with two sureties.

The bail was granted following an application by his lawyer during his second appearance before the court, presided over by Nana Abena Asoh Owusu Omenyo.

Danful, who has been charged with assault, pleaded not guilty.

He is alleged to have subjected Rachel Oduro to severe beatings.

The court adjourned the case to February 10, 2026.

The prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Achana, told the court that the complainants in the case were police officers stationed at the National Police Headquarters in Accra.

Danful, an unemployed resident of Sakumono, was arrested on January 15, 2026, by the Police Special Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team (CVET) after a video showing him violently attacking his girlfriend went viral on social media.

According to the prosecution, the video, which circulated widely on TikTok, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat, sparked public outrage and widespread calls for police intervention.

Investigations revealed that Danful and Oduro had previously lived together and had a history of frequent misunderstandings, often characterised by loud confrontations and alleged violent attacks on the victim.

In his caution statement, Danful admitted to the offence and told police that he slapped the victim multiple times because he suspected her of cheating on him.
